What Emotions do Lines Communicate?

I picked to draw a pinwheel. I had thought to give it a shot with inventor but the program was running too slow so I turned to my engineering notebook.
Funny because I see this pinwheel everyday, it is placed in my room but today was the first time I actually "saw" it. I saw lines and curves where I had not before. Drawing it was not too hard, thankfully.
The lines and slight curves gave off the feeling of precision. A pinwheel works due to this built.
Lines are represent structure and rigidness, not a bad thing most of the time. Lines are a part of nature, lines make me feel...okay. They don't exactly make me happy nor unhappy so okay seems to be fitting in this instance.

Further line work:

This week we learned about the nature of outlines, contours, structural, and gestural line work. For example, an outline has no depth while a contour has more detail. Structural drawings have more value and lines, shading may also be present. And lastly, when drawing gestural work one is trying to convey what the object is doing in time.

Benjamin pointed out the my work reflected what we had learned this week. I may not be the best drawer but i did try to draw the line work to the best of my ability. He pointed out he came to realize how powerful lines can be and that they can convey so much.

Self as Designer

With the colors and materials available to us I doodled what came to mind when I thought about myself.
I know that we could have also chose a representation of a certain skill that we believe to posses already (one that concerns the on-goings of this class)  but I don't feel to have one. I joined the class to obtain these skills for I knew I didn't posses them already. With the guidance of Ms. Leppla I hope to accomplish and learn much this year.

Teamwork. Expression and collaboration come very easily to me, thankfully. By expression I mean the ability to express myself in various ways. I share my thoughts in a group and am open to hearing what others are thinking. I like to work with passionate/ hardworking people. All lot get's done in such environments :)

Product Improvement

Product Improvement

I partnered with Paras to complete this project. We decided to improve the apple watch with a useful accessory of our design. It was based on the existing protector devices for phones and tablets, it would be a sort of jacket for the face of the watch.
Characteristics of our product include: 4G LTE and WIFI compatibility, 2x the battery life, and it will serves as protective case for your 300 dollar watch.
This product would be available in varying colors to suit your preferences.
Collaborating with Paras was a smooth process. Brainstorming was quick for he already had in mind the foundation of the design. We discussed to make sure we were on the same page and then completed the final layout shown above.

Grand Canyon Project

1) Brainstorming is important when working in a group because you have to collaborate to accomplish the task at hand. The sharing of ideas is vital to the growth and process of the entire project.
2) Testing helped show any present flaws and allowed us to fix them before presenting.
3) Some important characteristics that a successful team possesses:

• teamwork
• listening skills
• the ability to support each other 
• the following of all set criteria 
• being open to all kinds of ideas and concepts. 

4) If I could do something different with the project it would be cut the original two pages into four. That way we may be able to extend the bridge a further distance. The tweak in the instructions concerning the breaking up of the two people blocks allows for this idea to potentially work. Making the mold into small enough pieces would benefit this design.
